Settings reference

What each setting changes, and which of them cost anything.

Settings holds the options you set once. Theme and language are in the header instead.

Everything here is stored on the device rather than your account, and applies immediately across every open tab. Only the refresh interval affects how much data Live uses.

Update frequency

SettingDefaultDescription
Refresh interval15 sThe base polling interval: 15, 30 or 60 seconds. 60 is labelled battery-saver. This is a base — a quiet class stretches it 2×, 4× or 6×, so the real interval is usually longer. See How live updating works.

15 seconds is the shortest interval

A running class's results are cached for 8 seconds, so a shorter interval returns the same data twice.

Card size

SettingDefaultDescription
Card sizeNormalFour steps — Compact, Normal, Large, Huge — scaling row padding and type together. A live sample under the slider shows the effect without leaving the page.

Four fixed stops rather than a continuous scale, so every resulting size sits on the layout grid and on a step of the type scale.

Large and Huge are legible at arm's length, which suits a phone propped up at an arena.

Split details

SettingDefaultDescription
Show leg timesOnAdds the leg time and leg rank under each split's cumulative time. The leg is this control minus the previous one the runner actually reached.
Show time behindOnAdds the gap to the fastest — to the fastest cumulative time on the cumulative row, and to the fastest leg on the leg row. Those are usually different runners.

A sample under the switches shows what a control cell looks like with your current choices. Turning either off also stops the corresponding reference times being computed.

On a small phone in a big class, turning both off leaves the cumulative time and its rank, which is what fits.

Classic layout

SettingDefaultDescription
Classic layoutOffReplaces the cards with the dense liveresultat.orientering.se table at every screen size — one table, splits side by side, ranks in brackets rather than as superscripts.

By default Live shows cards on a phone and a full table on a wider screen, with splits behind a tap on the cards. Classic layout gives the table at every size, with every split visible at once and the gap to the fastest under each.

It fits more of the class on screen at once than the card layout does.

In the header, not in Settings

SettingDefaultDescription
ThemeFollows the systemLight or dark. Both are fully supported; light is the shipped default.
LanguageSwedishThirteen languages. Swedish and English are fully translated; the other eleven are partial and fall back to English for any string they do not carry.

What is not a setting

Three things that are set elsewhere:

  • Sort mode. Per class, in the sort menu on the results page. It resets to live placing — see Sorting and filtering.
  • A "my club" default. Reach your club from the competition's clubs tab, or favourite the people you follow.
  • Your name and picture. From your Routster profile, which is edited in Prepare. Live only reads it.
